The Clayton Clovers have been around since 2022 when they signed a multiyear deal making East Clayton Community Park their home. The Clovers are a semi-pro team consisting of D1, 2, & 3 college baseball players and are part of the Old North State League

Two wonderful bits of news as the teams looks ahead to their 2024 season!

One, the Clovers have been selected by their league to host the 2024 All-Star Game & Home Run Derby. They will also be planning a coinciding Beer & BBQ Festival so all three events will combine to offer visitors and locals a fun all-day experience. Mark your calendars for June 29th; the festival and derby activities will take place during the afternoon and the game will be played at 7:00 pm. There will be 20 players that take place in the derby and 60 players that compete in the ASG. Ticket will be made available online at www.claytonclovers.com and can also be purchased day-of at the gate.

“We appreciate the Old North State League selecting Clayton as the host in 2024. We are excited to deliver this event to the good folks of Johnston County,” said Clovers Co-Owner Louis DeCarolis. “We pride ourselves on being an affordable entertainment venue for families in the Clayton community, and this event will be a great addition to all that the Clovers have to offer. We are excited to work alongside Alec Allred, our league president, Eric Sibrizzi, our league commissioner, as well as the Town of Clayton to not only make this a tremendous event for our fans, but our league, players, and staff members as well.”

If you can’t make it to the All-Star Game, or if you just want more Clovers, there will also be 24 home games this season. Opening night will be May 25th, 2024 against the Jacksonville Ospreys. The clovers have a roster that is 50% host players and 50% local talent. For regular season games, general admission tickets are $8 for adults while kids 6 and under free.

The second bit of exciting news is that, while the Clovers have historically been a privately-owned team, Wasabi Ventures recently acquired majority ownership of the Clovers. Louis DeCarolis also remains a co-owner of the team. Thanks to this new partnership, Kathrine Morrison has joined the team as the General Manager for the Clovers and program continues to grow and improve with a bright future in the area.

“We are excited to see her step into this role and continue to support the growth of the Clayton community,” said DeCarolis. “Kathrine will focus on corporate partnerships, advertising, tickets & community events while leading the charge at our home games.”

Including the upcoming All-Star game and the Beer & BBQ Festival. More information will be release soon about what that part of the Feb. 29th event will look like. It will certainly be a full day of food, fun, and sports for the whole family!

“I’m excited for all the expansion the Clovers are making within in the community and the opportunities the organization is being given,” said Morrison. “We are eager for the upcoming season and we hope to see you there!”
