For biking on road, Johnston County offers four new bike trails and Legend Park in Clayton offers an 8-mile off-road course for beginners or experienced mountain bike riders.
For indoor/outdoor facilities your family can enjoy a visit to the Smithfield Recreation & Aquatic Center, Smithfield Community Park, or Clayton Community Center…all offer day passes for visitors. Walking trails and playground equipment and picnic shelters are located around the county's towns of Benson, Kenly, Four Oaks, Clayton, Smithfield and Selma. If you love to golf, the county has six public and semi-private courses to play. Three are located in the Clayton and 40/42 area: Pine Hollow, Riverwood and The Neuse Golf Club offer championship quality courses. In the central part of the county, select from Reedy Creek Golf Course, Johnston County Country Club or Cardinal Golf Course – all convenient to the I-95 corridor.
