Smithfield, NC (August 4th, 2015) - After compiling reports from townships and vendors who participated in the 301 Endless Yard Sale, numbers show that the event continues to grow. Not only did Johnston County businesses and vendors report record sales this year, but participating partner counties from Halifax to Harnett reported a positive return on investment.

As this was the third consecutive year for the event, many vendor locations are starting to see repeat vendors who return every year; they are pleased with the event, their vendor booth location on 301, and their profit from the event. In addition, traffic conditions along the route were reported as more manageable. And the health department reported no complaints or violations regarding food and beverage vendors. Non-profit vendors, like schools and churches selling vendor space and food, estimated higher amounts of money raised this year than in the past.

Press coverage this year included a WRAL news piece, a Bit + Grain blog, and an episode of Great American Country's TV show Endless Yard Sale filmed on location from the most northern part of the sale to the most southern. Including a day spent filming in the Selma area.

Organizers of the event discussed in depth the inevitable comments regarding the heat and the suggestion that the event be moved. Multiple new dates in the fall and spring were discussed.  However, rescheduling would not work due to multiple reasons. School will be in session and the event could not be held on Fridays. The issue of church locations was discussed if the event was to include Sundays. Major holidays weekends present an issue due to the number of people in the county that vacation during those times.

In addition, the average temperature for June was researched. The average temperature in June for the last ten years was 88 degrees. The last two years have simply had higher than average temperatures during the weekend of the event. Due to the inability to come up with another weekend that fits all parameters, and the fact that after three years a regular weekend has been established - the 3rd weekend in June - organizers decided not to change the dates of the event.

The dates of the event in 2016 will be June 17th and 18th. Organizers also discussed further expansion next year into Cumberland and Robeson counties. Details regarding next year's event will be posted on www.301endlessyardsale.com starting early next year. The 301 Endless Yard Sale is organized by a regional committee made up of representatives from Halifax, Nash, Wilson, Johnston, and Harnett counties.
